Welcome!

This is a special Art Journal created for the 100 themes Challenge at Digital Whisper. We have been given 100 different themes to inspire and create digital collage art over the course of a year. All of my art is created in Photoshop Elements 7 and is made using personal photos, stock photos, copyfree and digital kit imagery. All sources will be noted in the post. Please enjoy and watch this journal grow!

Animalia

Had some fun traveling vicariously through my blog to the rich forest of the Jaguar (top piece) and made some field notes in my discovery journal below.

These collages are for the digital-whisper 100 themes challenge # 45 (Animal) and #51 (Discovery). Imagery credits from wikimedia, Christine Renee, Rosy Posey, Lorie Davison and artist papers that I created background layers from. All images blended and created in PSE.

Love's Treasure

This is my entry for the digital-whisper challenge #85 "Lock and Key". Imagery credits go to google, Rosey Posey and Christine Renee all blended and artistically rendered in Photoshop. I have been taking some Photoshop Elements classes at our local Junior College and learned a great deal about The Clone tool, and Smudge tool for blending and layering. Also about file size and resolution (I'm still a bit confused on that one), but I love the artistic tools classes!

Gaia's Prayer

She is the moment when body

knits to body and the world flowers.

She enlivens everything: plants

in the meadow, the ocean's fish,

animals hidden in the forest,

birds tumbling on the wind.

She is our darling, who under

the wheeling stars makes all

things blossom and bear fruit.

At her approach storms clear,

dark clouds dissolve to blue,

sweet earth and all the oceans

smile, and her light dances brilliant

through the flourishing world.

This is my entry for the digital-whisper challenge #53 Life. It is also in celebration of Earth Day which is this Friday April 22nd. Hopefully we can all get outside and give thanks and spend some time in nature and perhaps plant something, pick up debris or tend to the earth in some way to help heal and nourish our only home.

Imagery credits go to Finecrafted Designs and Holliewood at Deviant Scraps. Artist paper clippings and artistic filters in Photoshop.

Mother Nature

What greater praise can I give you than to call you

green? Green, rooted in light, shining like the sun that

pours riches on the wheeling earth; incomprehensible

green, divinely mysterious green, comforting arms of

divine green, protecting us in their powerful circle.

And yet, lady, you are more than even the noblest green,

for you glow red as breaking dawn, you shine white

as the incandescent sun. splendid Mother, none

of our physical senses can explain or comprehend you.

.....Hildegarde of Bingin

This is my entry for the digital-whisper challenge (#22 Mother Nature). Imagery from e-vint.com, Holliewood and Finecrafted designs at Deviant scraps. Soft light, fresco and multiply filters used in Photoshop.

Unbound

There are a lot of difficult and heavy themes at the digital-whisper 100 themes challenge but that's what makes it such a great springboard for creativity. Making us stretch and grow and create outside 'our' box a bit. This collage is for the #28 "Sorrow" theme. I have been avoiding some of the darker themes a bit but ran across this wonderful image (from Dover books) to express feelings of sorrow and loss. I built the background from multiple layers from Christine Renee. Tears of sadness from Holliewood at Deviant Scrap. Soft light filters and reduced opacity in Photoshop.

Somewhere In Kansas

After a long tiring work week I am ready for a weekend by myself (hubby is at a conference) and some fun with art, reading and weather permitting some hiking! My whimsical collage above is for the digital-whisper challenge #44 Two Roads. I feel a little bit like Mister Rooster reading signs and going in circles, wondering which road to take. But in essence all roads lead home and that is where I want to be! Imagery credits go to Holliewood, Finecrafted Designs at Deviant Scraps, Google and Luna Girl .

Le Cirque

I had fun trying to recreate the feel and look of the old circus posters in this collage for the #49 "Stripes" challenge at digital-whisper 100 themes. Imagery credits go to Beth Rimmer and Finecrafted Designs at Deviant Scraps and googled imagery from vintage posters. Artistic filters added in Photoshop.
