Lemon Tree

Well after about three steady weeks of gardening and planting I had to come in from the sun and do some artwork!  This is my entry for the Digital Whisper 100 themes ( #10 Lemon Tree). I indeed have several lemon trees (made fresh squeezed lemonade from them this week) in my yard, and the lemons used in this piece are photos from my tree but digitally altered (posterized) along with imagery from Beth Rimmer, Dover and Holliewood at Deviant art scraps. Glorious summer (if a bit too hot already ) is upon us!!

Urban Warrior

This is my entry for the  Digital Whisper100 themes challenge #90 (Alley). Really switching to a darker more urban feel in this piece with the lonely urban warrior caught up in his concrete landscape.  Imagery from Vintage Blog, Lorie Davison at scrapbookgraphics and artist papers from Tim holtz.

Sacred Play

This is my entry for the Digital Whisper 100 themes challenge #48 "Childhood". This beautiful vintage photo from Magic Moonlight Free imagery  just touched my heartstrings when I think about how special my dolls were to me in my childhood. From  my "Thumbelina" baby doll , Raggedy Ann and later on to Barbie, Ken, Skipper and Scooter and even my assorted Troll dolls all gave me a sense of comfort and sacred play. Other added lace imagery from Scrapbookfraphics.

This is my entry for the Digital-Whisper 100 themes #27 "Rockstar". I used a magazine image and changed up Lady Gaga with stars in her eyes. An amazing performer who leaves it all on the stage; truly an artisan and innovative musician in the rock/pop tradition. Love's Treasure

This is my entry for the digital-whisper challenge #85 "Lock and Key". Imagery credits go to google, Rosey Posey and Christine Renee all blended and artistically rendered in Photoshop. I have been taking some Photoshop Elements classes at our local Junior College and learned a great deal about The Clone tool, and Smudge tool for blending and layering. Also about file size and resolution (I'm still a bit confused on that one), but I love the artistic tools classes!

Unbound

There are a lot of difficult and heavy themes at the digital-whisper 100 themes challenge but that's what makes it such a great springboard for creativity. Making us stretch and grow and create outside 'our' box a bit. This collage is for the #28 "Sorrow" theme. I have been avoiding some of the darker themes a bit but ran across this wonderful image (from Dover books) to express feelings of sorrow and loss. I built the background from multiple layers from Christine Renee. Tears of sadness from Holliewood at Deviant Scrap. Soft light filters and reduced opacity in Photoshop.

Somewhere In Kansas

After a long tiring work week I am ready for a weekend by myself (hubby is at a conference) and some fun with art, reading and weather permitting some hiking! My whimsical collage above is for the digital-whisper challenge #44 Two Roads. I feel a little bit like Mister Rooster reading signs and going in circles, wondering which road to take. Plumrose

Soft and subtle, feathered and wispy. This is my entry for the digital-whisper challenge # 88 (Soft). Imagery for this collage is from Dover books, personal photos of dandelions, feathered imagery and digital coloring with brushes and artistic filters in Photoshop. I was inspired by the mutitude of dandelions in my spring garden right now (even though they are weeds) I find them beautiful and the essence of softness.

This is my entry for the digital-whisper challenge #23 ( Hunted). Imagery credits are from Dover- I added wings and digital coloring, wikimedia, Metal Momma, Holliewood and Down under Studios at Deviant art. I wanted to create a sense of flight, escape but with a sense of cunning and awareness.

Mementos

This is my entry for theme #77 (Past Days) at digital-whisper. I wanted to recreate the feeling I use to have when I was young and would go through old photos, newspaper clippings and letters that my Grandmother had- it all seemed so mysterious and ancient and like pieces of a puzzle that needed to be assembled. Sadly my Mother and Grandmother were not great at keeping these clippings and most are lost now. But I can and do keep albums and mementos for my son of our life and significant events and have tried to instill a sense of history and family for him and his future family. Loved the character and 'knowing' expression on these women. Someone has a secret.....

This is my entry for the Digital-whisper 100 themes challenge # 81 Pen and Paper. I had fun using imagery from the Holliewood/Tangie Baxter (Queen of Cakes) kit from Deviantartscraps. Found some interesting quills and pen images from wikimedia and overlayed bits of handwritten letters. A bit of a fun French Marie Valentine!
